I have just got my mower going after it not working for some time. I've cleaned the carb out and it starts really quickly on choke but as soon as i take the choke off it cuts out. why???? can anyone help

I had the problem and I just put in a new sponge air filter. This fixed the problem. I couldn't get a proper qualcast sponge filter so I just cut one out of a new bath sponge. It did the job.

Dirty Carb.
Any running issues such as these come back to the carb. Clean it thoroughly. The jet is obstructed and not getting enough fuel thus needs choke to get that fuel. Remove bowl at bottom of carb, the nut holding this will either be the jet or be covering it. Use splinter of wood to poke into jet holes and rinse thoroughly.
