i have oil / gunk in my water resovoir?

I have oil / gunk in my water resovoir on my Peugeot 206 1.4 petrol. I know this my be signs of a gasket failure but is it possible that I just need an oil change and filter perhaps?? My car is running fine and is not overheating at all, I do have engine management light on however. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks Guys

it will do no harm to service it and as you say your head gasket may be at fault

No it does not appear to have an oil cooler, but the last service was a while back so wondered if the oil filter could have died. If not I think it will proabaly be the head gasket.
