Mountfield Rv150 model-starter problem?

severe kick back from rope handle starter mechanism-engine seized maybe?.
Have replaced spark plug, engine oil, bled fuel line to carb in case of air lock, cleaned air filter
Should I try spoonful of engine oil via spark plug hole?
advice appreciated!

dear pleasant,
took your advice and removed cutting blade, sharpened it seeing that I had taken it off. replaced it and it started up first time! perhaps the flywheel timing had altered slightly as you suggested. Anyway, thank you very much for your assistance.

i would start off looking at flywheel key ive never known a bent crank to give kick back on its own

None of what you have done will cause or cure kickback. Is the blade fitted to the machine- if not re-fit it and try again. The blade acts as a flywheel so it needs to be fitted. Is the blade loose? If so, tighten it. Is the engine oil at the correct level? If overfilled this will cause kickback. Have you hit something with the mower hard recently? Is so, you could have bent the crankshaft (the shaft the blade attaches to) or you may have fractured the alloy flywheel locating key on the top end of the crank- this can cause the flywheel to move slightly and thus alter the timing causing kickback.
