Control Panel flashing Rf problem?

My eight year old Scantronic 500r+ free wire alarm with four 515r PIRs have never given any problems until recently when I accidently walked into the house with the alarm on and the alarm failed to work, no flashing or audio bleeping from the control panel or any noise from the exterior sounder.

Athough the alarm sets manualy with correct lights flashing as it used to on the Control Panel the alarm still does not work.
The Device setting & panic/alarm does not set the alarm as it used too, and the during a walk test it just flashes the RF problem light on the Control Panel, I have checked the 240v supply and fuse and all fuse,s in the Control Panel circuit board.
The exterior alarm bell is works okay when selected manualy on the Control Panel or if I disconnect the 12Volt supply = OK.

I have replaced all the four 515r PIRs with new batteries and replaced the standby 12V 2.1Ah battery in the Control Panel.

When carring out a walk test, None of the four Control Panel PIR lights Light up as they used to, even pushing the tamper button for recognition the only light that flashes every time on the Control Panel is the RF problem light.

as scantronic no longer make the two versions, nor any of the pirs, door contacts, vibe det, they have moved on to the i-on range,

have to disagree with you fred, never had a blown cap on this or any scantronic panel, certainly never had one overheat,i have had idiots play with panels and cause damage.and if you have any panels, they must be very old stock, and you need to check the freq, the panel is

Sorry, due to the age of this system it sounds like the circuit board has overheated and one of the Capacitors has blown, about £110 to purchase another control panel.

might be alarm guy, just wish they would hold it up here some times

A little hint for these.
Take out all batteries from detectors and leave them out for 15 mins. Then put back one at a time and do a walk test with each "livened up" detector.

As GTS rightly says, no use walking past detectors using walk test and going straight back. Get your property empty, make a cup of tea and sit by panel ater enabling walk test. Drink tea, good idea to read the user manual at the same time. Then have a walk about and see what happens.

GTS, going to IFSEC?

by the way,all parts for this system are now obsolete, those nice people at scantronic let me down,as we have quite a lot on maintenace, including one of my bros,

its picking up rf signals from some where, taxi or cops, its designed to check for jamming signals, when it finds any it flashes the rf light, remember that the pirs go into sleep mode for 4or5 mins after being trig to save battery life, when the rf sig vanishes panel will reset back to norm
