engine warning light on Vauxhall Corsa 2005?

At the point now where no garage can help me out as they have tried everything to fix this fault.

Basically the engine warning light comes on and car seems to pull to side, and then loses power. It shudders when idle. Then when engine is turned off and then back on the light will go off, but it isn't long till it repeats this over and over. I can't make a 2 minute journey without it happening and have stopped using car now.

Car has had a new fuel injector, EGR valve and gasket, coil pack, fuel filter, spark plugs and has had fuel sediment and water remover from tank as last thing the garage said the only cause could be is possible water or dirt in fuel tank.

Problem is now worse than ever, I don't know what to do, please help!

Which engine warning light? Please describe it. If it is the engine management light there should be a fault code stored. Has your garage read the fault codes, if so what are they?
Did they read then clear the codes to see which came back?
From a cold start, how long does it take for the fault to appear, does it appear to be engine temperature related?

A friend of mine had this. Sorted it by draining the fuel tank and fuel system completely, and filling with fresh fuel. It took two goes to do it (couple of weeks between) but it did sort it. There was water in the tank.

After that his camshaft snapped (common problem, and subject to a recent recall) because the retaining bolts weren't tight, but that's another story - I suggest you check yours for correct torque if you haven't done so already.

we bought a new airflow meter and it when fitted actually made the engine sound terrible so we took it back and put the original back in.

No-one has mentioned anything from the garages so far about the crank sensor. They said they have tried every option to what it could be. Is this something we could do ourselves like maybe buy one cheap as I have already spent over £700 trying to fix this and am at the end of my teether paying out.

The only other thing I could think of doing is to contact a Vauxhall approved garage for any ideas but I know they will say to bring it in but I'm feart to drive it anymore plus the minute they start 'looking' at it, it will cost me money I can't afford anymore :(

has the airflow meter and crank sensor been looked at?
