Several times the sensor on our landing keeps activating the alarm, even though the alarm hasn't been activated - why is this and what can I do to stop it?

Do you mean as you walk past it?
eg - Bing, bong type noise.

If this is so I would suggest someone has turned on the chime facility, it needs to be turned off.
