Mine has the same problem - the engine cuts out as power is applied to the cutting blades. Lost instructions - hope its somethin obvious. THe blades do move freely from time to time then the engine cuts out again....

blades are probably gummed up due to residue from hedge drying on cutter bars ,squirt with aerosol lubricant or soak with oil give the cutter bars a light tap along the side to free up and loosen residue, should work fine.
