vauxhall vectra warning lights?

1.8 2000 yr abs and airbag on what to check and how to remove
rob, May 2011
Common cause of abs light is a cracked or badly rusted reluctor ring, but the ABS pump and ECU units are also known to fail. If the problem is fixed the warning light will go out after you drive a few yards.

Common cause of airbag light is loose/poor connection of the seatbelt pre-tensioner wiring plug under the seat. If the problem is fixed the warning light will not go out, it has to be switched off using diagnostic equipment. This is to stop unqualified people working on the airbag system as it classed as a pyrotechnic device.

You would be best to check the plugs/wiring under the seat then take the car for diagnostics. The tech can then try switching off the airbag light at the same time as getting you the fault codes.

Attempting to fix these problems without diagnostics will cost a lot of time and money.

just about the only way to check these properly is to get a code reader onto the motor or you could spend a fortune guessing
