wireless to wireless modem?

hi, i have a virgin media wireless modem, but want to connect another wireless unit(netgear) to further the range. can i do this via an erthenet wire from virgin media unit to an adsl connecrtion on netgear unit. ? i have tryed connection between both via erthenet to erthent on slave ports but did not work. thanks for any help.

No, you can't connect via ADSL.

You need to connect the Virgin router (there's no such thing as a wireless modem) to the Netgear via Ethernet to one of the Netgear's Ethernet ports.

But in addition, you MUST switch off the Netgear's DHCP server. While you are in the Netgear's settings: set the WiFi SSID to the SAME SSID as the Virgin box, set WPA security with a long random password and give the Netgear a new IP address so that you can "talk to it" in the future.
