which alternator for saxo vtr 2000?

Hello, i'd appreciate it if somebody can please help me. I have a saxo vtr registered 15/5/00 (front headlamp and indicator all in one)mk 2/series 2 ?, it has a valeon alternator. The 2 nuts version. The sticker with spec is missing. The alternator works fine, but the bearing has gone on it making a whine/hum type noise. When i look on e bay they're listed as 96 to 2000 or 2000 onwards, and 2001 onwards, generally. With some types the difference is visible, some have a pulley wall, some are grooved which mine is,then some valeon have a 2 pin plug, which i think are the later models and then some have 2 nuts/bolts, like mine. My question is if it's a valeon 2 nuts/bolts type made in 2000 willl it be suitable for mine, i don't know when the cut off was in 2000 iethte change from one type to anothe. Thanks . iainr

try euro parts.they do parts for lots of cars, just give them your reg number, but if you can bring old part with you coz they will charge you for an exchange part

if you go to a motor factors and give them your reg no. you should receive the correct alternator,if you are going for an e bay alternator it may be worthwhile having a dialogue with the seller and explain your predicament, another option is a scrappy and take the old alternator along for a pattern, this would be your cheap option
