how can i fix my transit engine?

have had cylinder head skimmed, and engine is smoking and still losing water. engine still seems to have its power

look at g/box end of cyl.head just above bell housing for a stainless steel tube about 6-8 inches long with two water hoses attached,if you want you can bypass the unit by joining these two hoses together with a length of pipe and hose clips,if you want to test the unit, remove it,block one pipe connection and blow into the other one,if you can blow into it and have no resistance then that will be your fault, think this cools gases linked to the egr valve, good luck

the van is a transit 2.0td 04reg..

you have not given veh.details but there is a water cooled stainless steel chamber on some transits linked to the egr valve which sometimes gives problems
