how can i fix my new home model 535 sewing machine the top thread keeps breaking and i have changed my needle

I had this problem too. It is because either the tension isn't set correctly or, as in my case, you haven't used the lever at the back to lower the foot onto the material. If that doesn't work, try a tension setting of 3 or 4 using the knob with the dial and numbers.

Hope you have your machine fixed now! But if not, do you have your manual? I have the New Home 6000. Thread the machine with the pressure foot in the up position. Is this a new machine for you? Did it work in the past? I can walk you through the process if you don't have the book. Also start the sewing about 1/4 down, make about 2 stitches and then back stitch to the beginning and then sew the rest of the sew. Good luck?

Hello Shona,
First make sure you have threaded the machine properly, easy mistake to make, top tension about 4 or 5, you should just about be able to pull the bottom thread through with slight resistence.
