I have a Hotpoint washer model # vwsr3110w2ww. It moves like it is washing but it won't drain or go into the fast spin cycle. the water just sits in the washer.

As long as the drain hose is properly connected and not kinked, chances are there is something wrong in the pump area.

maybe pump is blocked and needs clearing out.
maybe a wire has fallen off the pump connector
maybe the pump is kaput and needs replacing

pump is usually at the bottom back of the machine, quite easy to do and don't need more thana couple of screwdrives to do the job.
