rover 214 si n reg new shape?

hello all i just replaced the head and gasket but it is boiling the car is getting hot in side on the heating side working fine .when i turned of the in car heater i saw the temp gauge going up the fan kicked in but is was boiling i left it the gauge came down to half but the water when right down so i turned it off can you please help

Try changing the plastic pressure cap on the filler/expansion bottle. These often fail causing the system to boil over while the temp gauge reads normal. They only cost about £5

Sounds like who ever done your gasket didnt skim the head.Rovers are famous for warping their heads if been roasted even once .Any white smoke from the exhaust.suspect head needs to come off skimmed and pressure tested,trying to cut corners dosent always work mate.
