Ford Fiesta won't start?

1990 Ford Fiesta, 1.1L, won't start. Battery good, headlights on full beam, turn key, headlights stay bright. No clicking noise. Will start with a push.
I don't think starter is jammed as headlights remain unaffected when attempting to crank engine

It may be the starter motor, Have you tried hitting the starter with a hammer whilst someone else has turns the key all the way round? if it starts after this then it's defo the starter. The starter should be behind the engine it's a long tube thing on the side of the gear box normally.

is immobiliser light working as normal and not flashing rapidly? [if fitted], check for battery voltage on small starter wire when key turned to start position, if ok suspect starter if no voltage then i think there is a fusible link in this small lead covered by insulation , check to see if its broken,if its ok then there may be a relay for starter-check this.
