scantronic 816 missing battery?

Hi,

Scantronic 816 alarm just started going off then showing code "MISSING BATTERY". Got to the control panel and checked normal stuff like good contacts etc. The Battery is at least 7 years old so it would be a good idea to get a new one.

Just asking, there has been no power cut. If the battery itself is low is this enough to set the alarm off? Or should I get the alarm looked at?

and what do you think defaulting panel will do mark?apart from screwing up the prog, and what if the user has not the engin code,or manual to reprog??you have not thought this one out,as alarm guy and acorn says, the panel knows better than the user, and you ,by the sound of it,no offence ment,:-)

Hi it is reccomended that alarm panel batteries are changed every 3 years.

use a multi metere to check the output from the DC battery leads - 13.03 vdc or above nothigher than 14.00 vdc should be around 13.55 vdc. If no joy power the system down and leave it for 3 minutes then power up - if fault still persists then default the panel back to factory reset.

7 years old, it's at least 2years past its sell by date, should be changed at the most every 5years (if not before).

If a Scantronic panel tells you that something is wrong, it is.

Do as it says, there is a reason.
