how does the recoil start system go back together?? friend has above machine stripped down, but cant get recoil to work. the start rope simply unwinds without recoiling. any diagrams / explanations would be greatly appreciated.

thats the joy of friends with no idea basicaly under the recoil pully ( what your rope goes around ) you will find a spring one end connects to pully the other connects to the housing would say either its not connected or it broken.
can be a little tricky if you have not done one before
easy answer is to take the recoil complete to local repair centre should be a cheap fix if it not needing parts i would charge no more than £10
