How can I fix my Dell laptop screen?

The screen of my laptop turn black one day. I can plug another monitor in it and it works. Could anybody tell me how to fix it ?

HI I HAD SAME PROBLEM IT THE BACKLIGHT IN THE LID THATS FAILED MINE COST ABOUT £40 TO FIX
IF YOU ANGLE SCREEN ENOUGH YOU CAN MAKE OUT THE IMAGE ON THE SCREEN.
I THINK THE ACTUAL PART IS AN INVERTER
