When I turn on the register, a "clerk error" message displays followed by press the clear button and a beeping sound. When I press the clear button nothing happens, the display remains the same along with the error beeping sound. Any suggestions?

It might have lost the programming. I'd try an initial clear first. this will jump it out of the lockup but keep the program. Run through the procedure in the manual. Make sure it is the INITIAL clear that you perform.
