rover 214 k reg sli twin cam?

After replacing the water pump on my 214..There seems to be a problem re-starting her...lined up timing marks etc before re-fitting cam belt ..all looked fine..however on turning the engine over on the key..it turns so far and then stops and sounds as if it is not completing the rotation..almost like whan the starter motor clicks...or when your battery is flat..could there be internal damage now ?? valve or something...or is it something moe simple....please let it be.......Chris

Hello after you timed it up,did you turn it over twice and then recheck the timing marks?
If you did,nt it,s very possable the timing is out.
