I bought a new cable for mine from ebay from pokerx7 for 22 quid they are a direct replacement dead easy to fit and makes your straighteners brand new again with no unsightly repairs hes the cheapest of there and mine work perfect now and they fit all models of ghds

Hello!
I have a similar story, my sliding button stopped working and so did the flashing light, so as soon as I plugged them in, they were ON whether the sliding button was set to ON or not.
So I used my guarantee at the shop and got some new ones no questions asked. Then after about two years of using my new straighteners almost constantly, and transporting them to different places and dropping them on the floor and so on, they stopped working (not surprisingly). So I just wrote a letter and sent this with my straighteners off to the Jemella Limited address.

The letter said this:

To Jemella Limited,

I purchased my GHD straighteners within the last year. I have sent them to you insured via recorded delivery complete with the original packing and guarantee. The switch does not work and the irons do not heat up efficiently, I do not know what the problem is. Could you please fix the straighteners or send me a new pair to the following address:
(write your address here)

Thank you, I will await the fixed straighteners or replacement in the post.

And they sent me a newer version of what I already had, brand new, with a guarantee! :D

I didn't send it recorded delivery or insured or whatever and my straighteners were really very old and not applicable for guarantee. I just said all this to make sure they wouldn't make a fuss and send me back a dudd letter saying I wasn't eligable.
I wouldn't, for example, imply that you've tried in any way to fix them yourself, as they will blame you for tampering with the electronics.

And again, as the above person has said, you have to wait for about a month for them to arrive, but they do in the end, and you'll be happy happy happy with straight hair again!

Hope this helps any unhappy GHD owners who's straighteners are letting them down.
