When the needle goes down, it slips to the left and "clunks". ?

I have a Singer Touch Tronic 2001. The needle goes straight down to a point, then slips to the left making a "clunk" sound. The bobbin thread is not picked up. Can I fix this?

Hello Karen.
That will need seeing in the shop because it is not something that you can fix yourself on that machine
