if the cables that lead to the top of the gearbox selector are not broken and working ok then there is a roll pin in the actual selector mechanism that is bad for shearing,you have to remove the air filter for access,remove the cables,breather hose,reverse light switch wiring and think there are six 10mm bolts holding the selector mechanism on
