switch for immersion isn't working?

I have an immersion heater but the red light switch isn't coming on and the water isn't heating up could you advise as to what could be wrong with it

check fuse at consumer unit, if ok switch might have to be replaced as wiring terminals sometimes burn out if not tightened properly. dont attempt it yourself!
