I forgot, Scantronic, one of the best makes of alarm panel around, if it says something is wrong, IT IS.

Where is the 'end station' sighted?

Is it in a hot environment like an airing cupboard or boiler room, if it is, that's why the battery has given up so quickly, batts.don't like heat.

Site it in the cellar or garage the battery will more than likely last longer than 5yrs.

Checking a battery to see 'how many volts' it has is only part of the correct way to test one, on its own, VERY UNRELIABLE.

to let you understand, the service light does not mean the alarm needs serviced,it means you have a fault on the system, batteries have a life expec of 3 to 5 years, depends where the end station is placed
you need a special tester to check the battery..you dont what the panel display says

replace it again

gts, June 2011
yes replaced the battery about 3 years ago.

bet you never had it serviced, replace the battery,7 amp one

As mentioned there is as fault somewhere.
Engineer code might clear the service light for a short while, but unless the fault is cleared it will return.

is there no code I enter to remove the serivce light? I have had the alarm for 20 years and not had any problems before with the alarm.
