key fault?

my daughter used her car to go shopping, when she returned to the car park later, and pressed her key fob it did not work, cental locking didn;t work and immobiliser did not disarm, changed batteries in fob made no difference, breakdown guy came out checked the key says its working but the immobiliser may be faulty, for both faults to occure within a short period to me sounds unsual, i have entered a code into the car via central locking button on console, and this allows me to start and drive the car, but i have to do this every time i want to use it, is there away of reseting the key to the immobiliser, please

Press and hold central locking button on dash for about five seconds. I think there should be a beep. Quickly (within fifteen seconds?) point the key at the receiver and press and hold the fob button. Doors should lock and unlock, key now resynced. You may have to try it a couple of times.

A nice long question, but you left out the vital bit, what sort of car is it? At guess it could be a Renault, cos most of the questions about cars are for these cars. If it is a Renault my advice is to get rid of it quick as they are rubbish cars. PS, looks like my guess was correct, it was a rubbish Renault.
