Sprint 375 Engine in Lawnmower?

Hi I am new to this site. I have a lawnmower with a 375 Sprint engine and lately it is running like it has some thing stuck in it, and its going through petrol very quick, when it is running to the last drops of petrol it stops sputtrer and seems to run okay until its dies because of lack of petrol. When I first check it it was low on engine oil which I topped up. Can anyone help me please. Thanks

Further to my last answer-I've just repaired a mower with the same problem and also found that the carb needed cleaning.
Cleaned carb, filter and fuel tank with air line and works fine now.

Sounds like the choke is sticking? remove the cover and make sure there is no grass or bits of rubbish stuck in there, and that the automatic speed control is working properly as this also controls the choke. Also there is a small plastic cover where the cable fits make sure this also clear of any rubbish.
