Samsung ER350 ghost beeping?

I have a ten year old Samsung ER-350 cash register that recently started mysteriously giving out a continuous beep and displaying an error "E7". This happens a few times a day and usually no one is even near the register. There is usually another number to the right of the "E7" which looks like a dollar and cents number that no one recognizes. It is easly cleared by pressing the "Cancel" key but it is annoying. Any idea what could be causing this and how to prevent it?

There doesn't seem to be an E7 code listed for this model, but there are two likely causes.
First, the electronic journal (EJ) may be near full. Try resetting the journal - check your manual for the code. The other cause is usually a faulty or damp keyboard. See if the problem happens on wet/ humid days more often.
