How do you get the "click" type oil filler cap off a fiesta?

I have a Y reg pertol fiesta and it has the "click" type oil cap on it. I am turning it in the direction of the arrows (its impossible to do anything else) and it wont come off. I even got a big strong fella to help and he couldn't get it off. Anyone know the technique for this?

Turn the cap anticlockwise i.e. opposite direction to the "click" arrows and the cap unscrews. Mine was very, very tight so it needed a lot of effort.
