in short grass works fine in high grass blades slow down then just stop. why and how can it be fixed

your belt needs more tension or you have the wrong length belt on it. check the lever under the mower for an adjuster. there might be a spring that is broke that puts tension on the belt. Have somebody move the lever while you look under the mower so you can see how the tensioner works.
