Can I mend a dent in my static caravan side?

We had terrific gale force winds and the door to our caravan flew open at such a force that the handle punched a dent in the wall behind the door. Since then we have put blocks of wood in place so this does not happen again. (yes we had one of those plastic catches, but the force broke it). We have since bought a new catch but apparently you can only get plastic ones not metal - which to me seems stupid, as you know it will happen again. Our once pristine caravan now has this dent (my wife keeps on about it) which I would like to remove if at all possible. Does anyone know how this is done. Would I have to get a professional in or does anyone know a solution which the non do-it-yourself person could manage. Thanks for any help.

A lot of info except what the body is made of.
Whatever it is it's not easy 'no see repair' without the profesionalism and equipment. I had corner damage repaired by a car body repairer and its un-noticable. Had I done it I'm sure it would have stuck out like a sore thumb.
Alternate: Fill hole with fibreglass and overlay with a vent to cover the repair.
