Mercedes Key?

Hi! Just picked up merc C180 on a p reg.
Was told that the key fob doesn't talk to the immobiliser and I must not take the spare key out of the ignition otherwise the immobiliser will kick in.
So I turn the engine off and leave the key in.
I can lock the door with the fob key.
What is the easiest way rounnd this?

You might have known him for about three years, but your still a plonker for buying it. The reason he didn't get it fixed is it would cost an arm and a leg, that why he sold it to a numpty like you

Sorry I forgot to put, that I have known the guy for the last three years and he had the car like this as long as I have known him!! He is just too tight to take it to Merc dealership.

What an earth made you buy a car with a fault like this. If you leave the keys in the ignition, even if the doors are locked, you are asking to get it nicked, and you won't be able to claim off insurance as you left the keys in the ignition. Take it back and try to get your money back, that is, if you can find the cowboy who sold it to you, which I very much doubt
