is my hotpoint electric E7134-E6005 faulty?

is it normal for the area around the on /off touch button to be warm even if hob isn't being used. it is a hotpoint electric hob,schoot ceran, model E7134-E6005.

there is a transformer under there supplying power to circuit board. It is waiting for you to touch on/off switch so it is in standby effectively.Yes there may be some warmth in that area
