Renalt megane wont start?

HI my renalt meagane 1.4 16v 51 reg wont start. thought it was the battery so charged this but as soon as tried to restart the car it run battery down within minutes. Any idea of problem? Spark plugs were changed a year ago and worked like a treat.

thanks but what if the battery was new and the car still did not kick in to start and run the battery down through spending 10 mins trying to get it started?

If it ran battery down in minutes...it IS the battery at fault...try a new one
