How do I clean a Rowenta Pro Glide iron soleplate?

I have used a rowenta soleplate cleaning kit and it doesn't remove the buildup on my sole plate. I would really hate to use an abrasive cleaning pad if there is any other alternative....thanks for anyone who can help me.
