Water entering my machine even when it is off?

I have an Electrolux EWX 14440. Water is entering the machine even when it is off, it fills up the drum. The tap feeding the flexi hose is not at fault as it is cutting off the water as it should but I should not have to keep turning the supply off surely? The machine flooded my flat while I was away. I had turned off the mains but the builders took the supply to the machine off of the mains before the stop cock and I had not realised! I've alway been told to leave the door open to stop it smelling, by doing this it allowed the water to escape and kept refilling. It is a 2 year old flat and the machine was part of the kitchen equipment. Help please

You say that the builders took the supply off the mains before the stopcock. These were not builders, they were cowboy builders. Any feed off of your mains should be after the stopcock in your house, not before it. You need to turn off the water supply from your outside stopcock. You then need to put a new pipe after the stopcock and also a service valve on the supply pipe near to your machine so that you can turn the supply off after the machine has finished its cycle so that this doesn't happen again. If you can't do this yourself, get a local plumber to do it. You will also need to replace the solenoid valve as well, as this is where the problem started from.

the inlet valve is fault or the machine is after the stop tap and as the pressure drops it releases the inlet valve and fills/floods out of the door.these machines rely on water pressure to shut the inlet valve otherwise at low pressure they become a drippy tap.shut door and leave water on for a few day and see if it fills.if it does inlet valve issue.if it doesn't put it down to turning water off.
