If the end frays when trying to get it into the recoil, first make sure it is the right size. If it is then get a nice clean cut on the end with a razor blade or something very sharp. Now take a lighter and melt the end of the rope. It will start to turn brown. While it is still hot, or molten take your fingers and quickly pinch and roll the end to a point. Do this fast so it doesn't burn you. Or you can use a pair of leather gloves. This will keep the rope from fraying on you.
