Automatic gearbox on 2.5l Vauxhall Omega?

Within last 2 days my 1999 CDX which has done 140k has developed intermittent fault not showing on dashboard. Whilst driving (thankfully have only driven around town at 30mph) it drops down to 1st/2nd gear for a few seconds. Has anyone else had this happen or have any ideas pls?

without looking at live data it would be a guess. If no code is set then the transmission is probably doing as commanded, so; There may be a fault with the contacts in the range switch. This may have the effect of a manual downchange. It can be dissmantled to check. The speed sensor may be contaminated and give a low speed reading thereby commanding a lower gear. No codes will be present. Check out www.fedauto.co.uk for local specialist.
