Someone came to look at it and said the bearings have gone, he said it will take 4 weeks to repair and cost me £270. He would need to take it off site. I asked him to check if its a sock, he said he would need to strip the machine down and would cost me roughly £70 and it may not fix the problem.
I explained this to someone else (over the phone), he said it may be a sock plus the belt gone which would cost roughly £70, or may be the bearings (which may feel like something like a sock stuck in the drum) which would cost roughly £130. He said he would advise me not spend over £100 on such an old machine, and I would probably be better off purchasing a new one.
