engine noise?

my ford focus has developed an engine noise, very similar to big end bearing rattle, the car has just 114000 miles on it, it is a 1.6 ghia model

remove the fan belt and see if the noise disappears,also pay attention to crankshaft pulley,sometimes break up causing a knock
