how can i adjust clutch cable on mark 5ford transit just fitted new clutch too much slack on cable ???

as far as i know there's 2 types, fully self-adjusting ratchet and pawl type and the adjustable has a 10mm nut on a vertical thread that is next to the foot pedal arm, wind nut upwards to take up slack.
