fault 1 on ultima WT640 hotpoint 1400 spin washing machine?

machine has just stopped working but it is showing fault 1

Loaded Hotpoint Ultima WT640 washing machine this morning and selected ON button program 6, nothing happened and after a period of time the displayed read 'DOOR'. When OFF selected a click to identify door unlocked was heard and door opened. Wjen tried to start again the door lock could be heard but the program would not start!
