My 02 mondeo keeps jerking whilst driving & managemant light on?

I recently bought a second hand 02 plate 1.8 petrol mondeo. The engine management light keeps coming on and then gos off. Then today I was driving my car and it keeps jerking? Anyone know why?

if it is misfiring then would have a look at the coil pack,plugs and leads,get this fixed then it may sort out your warning lamp issues also
