fuel guage faulty?

hi i have a 2001 ford iveco 75e15 cargo,& just about a week ago the fuel guage on it started playing up, the fuel guage needle started shaking about as i drove,& now it does'nt give any reading at all,can anybody with any knowledge about this please advise me as to what the problem is & how i can go about solving it.
