Can I repair a PABL fridge freezer which keeps tripping the main switch - electrician say its the compressor?

I've got a PABL RFF 5050 as well ... phoned around for a technician to look at it, all declined for various reasons. Most said they don't do the spares?

Neither the fridge nor freezer working.
Compressor noisier than usual, some of the pipes get hot, but none feel cold to the touch. May be a gas problem, but I'm guessing ... both thermostats would not fail at the same time.

I've given up and ordered an Indisit 5050 to replace it.

If it is the compressor, NO you cannot repair it, You would have to get some one to do it, All the refrigerant needs to be removed, and then replaced, Its like the gas safe, Yo have to specially quallified to use the refrigerant.
If the unit is auto defrost, Might be the defrost htr, at fault, in which case you could repair it your self, You would need a test meter to find out.
