I have a Dimplex coal effect heater which has a fault?

The unit switches on, then instantly clicks off but doesn't blow a fuse. It does this even when it is just the bulbs for the coal effect that are on, with the actual convector heater set to 'off'. I changed the rocker switch, but that didn't resolve it. There is a printed circuit board for the remote control, which I suspect is the problem. Is that just for the remote control and so able to be removed/bypassed to use the unit manually? Thanks
