That sounds like the selector is out of alignment. As its 1 / 3 / 5 which would be all the gears at the top. You can probably get to the selector from within the car or under. depending on the car.(if inside its directly underneath the shifter or its the secondary link under the car..You should be able to tighten the bolt up. Just wiggle the gear knob or get somebody to do that for you if you have to access it from underneath the car. good luck ;) its not hard to do
