How can I fix my Zanussi ZWF1221 washing machine?

After selecting a programme, the machine starts, as if filling, then stops after about 2 seconds. After a while the end light flashes 5 times, stop, flashes 5 times again. I have checked the hose and it is not kinked. Any ideas?

motor brushes worn out.remove them and if the carbon bit is less than 10mm they need replacing
