behind the engine there is linkage mechanism which joins the gearbox to the engine you can see it move if someone moves the gear stick about if this linkage becomes worn you can get this problem also if the bolt holding it together becomes loose this will give you the same fault.if you buy a manual it will give the process for re-aligning it as you cannot just tighten it up.
