e40 is a door interlock issue.this is the bit behind the front cabinet where the door pin goes in to.remove the door gasket and release the 2 screws that hold the door lock to the cabinet.look at the lock and see if it has a brown burn mark in the middle of it.if it has it could be it needs replacing OR it could mean it has blown the control pcb because the door lock has failed.until you replace the door lock you are never sure unless you can see the control board all burnt out!
